THE GOD VINTUR
The mountain of the wind since the Middle Ages, the origins of the word Ventoux are obscure and ancient. The word evokes the idea of a summit that is visible from a distance and used as a marker.A bridge between the earth and the sky, in mythology, mountains are the earthly home of the Gods. Deified by the Gauls under the name Vintur, a protecting divinity, the mountain has remained loyal to its pagan God, taking the name Ventoux ever since.
